4/28/18 Race Recap

A night full of potential and increasing speed ended short due to part failure for the Russell Jackson Racing team.

After a smooth session of hot laps the #17R Team Woody’s Racecar was set to start 8th in the heat race. With a good start, Russell quickly advanced to 5th. He fought to hold position for the remaining laps, but got caught up in a collision exiting turn 4 on the final lap.

Following the heat race, Russell was placed in the 10th starting spot for the feature. The race got off to a good start, but a part failure caused by the earlier incident ended the night short.

Russell was quoted after the race saying, “I really hated to end the night like that, but that being the only DNF caused by a part failure in my 6 years of racing makes it sting a little less. I’m really figuring out the new car, and I’m sure we will be faster next week!”

Russell Jackson Racing will resume their schedule next Saturday, May 5th at I-30 Speedway.

3/31/18 Race Recap

Russell Jackson took on I-30 Speedway Saturday night turning a rough start into a solid finish.

Russell started off the night with a routine session of hot laps and was placed in the 7th starting spot among a field of 11 cars for the heat race.

On a good start, Jackson advanced to fourth quickly. It soon became evident, however, that some handling problems were slowing him down. He fell to seventh where he finished.

Again starting in the seventh position for the feature, Russell would struggle early when he spun on lap 2 in order to miss a potential collision. Put to the rear, he became a man on a mission in the remainder of the feature.

Jackson picked off a car in the following restart and inherited another spot in a caution just two laps later. On a lap 6 restart, he gained another spot and inherited a few more by missing a tangle in turn 4 on lap 10.

Restarting fourth, Russell ticked off the remaining laps without challenge and took the Team Woody’s #17R to his first top five of the year!

Russell Jackson Racing will resume their season next Saturday at I-30 Speedway in pursuit of the track championship.

3/17/18 Race Recap

Russell Jackson Racing made the trip to I-30 Speedway last Saturday for their first race of the year. With new equipment, results were uncertain yet hopeful.

Russell started 3rd in the second heat race and struggled throughout the race ending in the 7th position. That locked him into 11th for the main.

Car still was not perfect in the feature, but Russell advanced nonetheless. After escaping from a turn four incident without damage, he was able to advance to 8th!

Russell was quoted after the race saying, “The #17R Team Woody’s Racecar took some getting use to, but I saw improvement as the night went on. We plan to make a couple changes before the next race and should be faster.” The next scheduled event for the team is March 31st at I-30 Speedway!

In With The New

Russell Jackson Racing is proud to announce our partnership with Team Woody’s Racecars for the 2018 season. Russell along with Crew Chief and Dad Jeff Jackson made the trip to Windsor, IL on Saturday to pick up the new car. They arrived around 8pm, and after a quick tour of the facility and some technical talk with the owner, they headed home. Russell said that he enjoyed the trip and is eagerly awaiting his first run in the car. First practice is set for March 3rd at I-30 Speedway.

Out With the Old

The month of January has been quite busy at Russell Jackson Racing. The decision has been made to sell our car from last year and upgrade to a new manufacturer (official announcement to come in February). We also got our engine rebuilt by Jet Performance and will be installing it in the new ride. The Russell Jackson Racing T-shirt Design is in progress as well, and it will be announced on social media when they come in! Looking forward to what the next couple of months will hold!

PRI Show

Russell Jackson Racing is excited to announce that we will be visiting the Performance Racing Industry Trade Show in Indianapolis this Friday and Saturday! We look forward to meeting and thanking all of our partners that help make our car go fast reliably. This will be Russell’s first time to attend the event, and he will be accompanied by his father who has gone many times over the 30 year history of the show. We will leave Thursday after Russell finishes up some school work and then be able to enjoy two full days at the show. We look forward to meeting many racing professionals and creating new relationships in the racing industry.
